My name is Shruti, and I am a PhD candidate at the University of Warwick (UK) working on education systems in India. I’ve been following your writings and analyses for a while, and they’ve been deeply inspiring to me. Thank you for your immense contribution you’ve made to strengthening India’s education data systems in India.

Excellent, I am extremely happy to see the analysis referring to the High Court’s August 2025 ban, already indicated in Mehta’s study and report physical deterioration systemic failures in data and oversight. Are not only revealing but also the negligence by the state authorities. Already indicated UDISE+ discrepancies if taken seriously the loss of life wouldn’t have happened at all. Complacency of authorities ignoring the expected danger for innocent school and children is unpardonable. Your suggestions are highly valuable and hope authorities take cognisant of the situation and act now at least. Suggestion of nationalizing community-led assessment is a real good suggestion.

Prof. Arun C. Mehta’s website “Education for All” is not only a rich repository of data and research but also a guiding source for learners and professionals committed to the cause of education. The clarity, depth, and authenticity with which information is presented make it an invaluable resource for anyone who wishes to understand the complexities of educational development in India.
As a student of MAED (Master of Arts in Education and Development) at NIEPA, I find this website extremely inspiring and relevant. While beginning my academic journey in education and development, I was looking for resources that could connect theory with ground realities. This platform does exactly that - it provides access to accurate data, policy analysis, and meaningful insights into issues such as access, equity, quality, and inclusion in education.
My motivation to join NIEPA stems from a deep interest in contributing meaningfully to the education sector, particularly in bridging gaps in policy and practice. Prof. Mehta’s work and this website have helped me shape this vision by giving me a clearer understanding of how research and evidence-based planning play a crucial role in educational progress.
I deeply appreciate the effort behind maintaining such a knowledge-rich platform. It not only strengthens the academic learning of students like me but also motivates us to think critically and engage actively in creating solutions for the challenges facing education.

This is Ann, Research & Design Lead at CoLab. We are currently working on a research project related to UDISE. As you have worked with UDISE, an opportunity to connect and discuss the project would be highly appreciated.
I have read several of your articles on the U-DISE data, which I am currently analysing as part of a research project. As the leading expert on this dataset, I was hoping you might be able to provide insight into the way this dataset is produced and answer some my questions around coverage (especially of private schools), reliability, longitudinal consistency etc during my next visit to India.
