Reclaiming Glory: How NIEPA Can Regain its Leadership in Educational Planning

Efforts made by the central and state governments have resulted in an increase in enrollment, but the goal of universal school education in the real sense is still a far-reaching dream. Unless the efficiency of the primary level of education is improved, higher levels of education cannot be expected to receive a quantum jump in enrollment. Recent UDISEPlus data reveals that it would be rather difficult to attain the Status of Universal School Education by 2030 as envisaged in NEP 2020.

Prof. Arun C. Mehta, a distinguished academic and researcher, holds a Ph.D. in Demographic Projections from the Department of Statistics, University of Rajasthan. Born on August 4, 1954, in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, Prof. Mehta dedicated nearly four decades of his career to the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi.
