NCERT All India School Education Surveys (1st to 8th Survey)

AISES (All India School Education Survey): NCERT, 1st Survey to 8th Survey

Apart from the administrative survey, such as UDISE+, NCERT also  used to collect information on school education in India, through All India School Education Survey (AISES), the 8th survey with 30 September 2008 is the latest such survey.

Thereafyter, in the year 2012-13, the Ministry has given the status of official statistics to DISE/UDISE which was then managed by the NIEPA.

In addition, it has also decided that in future if such survey is condcuted, it would confine to variables which are not covered under UDISE. UDISE over a period of time has singnifanctly improved educational statstics in the Country and NIEPA used to bring a set of 15 publications just based on one years UDISE Data.

It has also drastically reduced the time-lag in educational statistics and the statistics generated thorugh it was made available at all the levels of education, such as, school, cluster, block, district, states and also at the national level.

However, there is an increase in time-lag in educational statistics from the year 2018-19 onwards and district plans under Samagra Shiksha are now based on 3 years old data which is similar to the situation a decade back.
